چکیده
The subject of this study was to compare the seropre valence of Border Disease Virus (BDV) infection using an indirect Enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA) test among imported and native sheep herds. The present study was carried out between January and June 2012. Totally، 182 serum samples was tested. Antibodies against BDV were detected using an indirect ELISA test. Data were analyzed using Chi-square test. 124 (68.13%) sheep were ELISA seropositive. However، the true BDV seropre valence ranged from 71 to 100 was within the herds. The prevalence in animals lower than 2 years old differed significantly with sheep higher than 2 years old (P<0.05). The results revealed no significant differences in sropre valence of BDV between native Iranian and imported sheep herds in Sistan and Baluchistan provinces of Iran. Sex of animal had on influence on the prevalence of BDV. Results of this study indicated that BDV is highly prevalent in north of Sistan and Baluchistan and BDV infection could be controlled by livestock-trade control and applying strict biosecurity in the sheep farms.

Comparative prevalence of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus antibodies among native and imported cattle in north of Sistan and Baluchistan- Iran
Background and Aims: Sistan is a major pole in dairy production and genetic resource for the unique sistanian breed in the southeast of Iran. This region has a wide border with Afghanistan and cattle imports are done through this border. The main aim of this study was to compare the seroprevalence of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) infection rate using direct Enzyme-linked ...

The measurement of antibody responses of animals exposed to BVDV either through a natural exposure or an immunization protocol is still a standard procedure. For BVDV, the test formats have been largely limited to ELISA which is a valuable diagnostic test to measure the level of BVDV specific antibodies as well as antigen in blood samples. In the present study, 120 blood samples were collected ...

The objective of this study was to describe the seroprevalence rates of bluetongue virus (BTV) in sheep in west and northwest provinces of Iran. Bluetongue virus, an economically important orbivirus of the Reoviridae family, causes a hemorrhagic disease mainly in sheep and occasionally in cattle and some species of deer. Bluetongue virus is transmitted between its mammalian hosts by ce...
